The new-style elevating legrests represent a huge improvement over the original design. A well-known issue with many elevating legrest designs is knee lift that occurs when the legrest is elevating, the result of shearing. The amount of shearing is directly proportional to the distance between the knee pivot and the legrest pivot. The new Raz ELRs have high pivot points that virtually eliminate shearing, which allows the legrests to be elevated without folding up the footplates. Standard urethane pads at the pivots protect the lateral aspect of both knees. As well, the new calf pads are deeply contoured, allowing the client’s feet to be positioned appropriately on the footplates. Adjustable angle and depth footplates are standard with ELRs. Two models are available:
- Standard, for seat depths 17” or under
- Offset for seat depths greater than 17”.
