People come in all shapes and sizes. It is unrealistic to think that a standard seat on a rehab shower chair can fit every client. Larger clients may require additional space in their chair. For those clients who require more width for their rehab shower chair than what is provided on a standard size 18”-wide chair, the simplest solution is to order a wider frame with a custom wider seat. This solution works well if the client’s environment has enough turning space, wide enough door openings and a large enough shower area. If not, there are other solutions. Depending on how much extra width is required, a simple and cost effective is to add a custom wider seat onto the standard frame.
For a standard-width Raz-AP or Raz-AT, the seat can be up to 22” wide. If more width is required between the arms, a 2”-wider back assembly can be added. Alternatively, arm spacers are available to move the arms out either ½” or 1” per side. The arm spacers may also be used in combination with a wider back frame.
For a Raz-SP, a custom seat width up to 20” will fit between the rear wheels. This, in combination with arm spacers, can provide much needed width for larger clients.
